After your third Underworld event, you will be required to volunteer for a 4 hour NPC shift at your next Mournfall event. Shift times are chosen at Pre-log, so pre-log early to get your pick first. Popular shift times like Friday night and Sunday morning fill up quickly, but you can

keep checking back on the database because shifts are entered with a percentage of volunteers needed and the more people who pre-log the more spaces there are on each shift.
In game, we refer to this as “civic duty” when characters are out of play for a few hours for their NPC shift.
Arrive to NPC camp on time for your scheduled shift wearing black shirt and pants. Choose pants with pockets, or have a black fanny pack or small pouch to carry tags and small items. Bring your own snacks, water, and any comfort supplies you may need. If you don’t have black, choose neutral color basic layers without logos. Wearing a white headband or white hat is optional, however the convenience of not putting a hand or weapon on your head for long walks through the woods is nice. When you approach NPC camp, call out "Shifty approaching" in a loud clear voice and wait by the entrance. A shaper will bring you in and check you in for your shift.

NPC shift duties can span a number of tasks and roles. The plot team will find something that matches your interest and aptitude, fits into what the schedule requires, and can accommodate accessibility needs. NPC “shifties” are not required to do combat roles, there are roleplay opportunities, other tasks around the camp like cleaning and organizing, applying makeup for other people, low combat roles within a combat mod, photo ninja if you have your own camera, assisting marshals with coordination, lighting pyrotechnics, etc. Check in with the Head of Plot or a GM to discuss what your role can be on your first shift. Don't be afraid of stats or being expected to play a role that you aren't confident with, just talk to a shaper or GM to guide you. We will find a job for you!

If you love roleplay and/or combat and don’t want to wait three games, ask us about trying out NPC shift early! We would love to have you.
After your shift is over, clean up your garbage, and check in with the Command Tent/Monster Marshal tent. You will receive in game rewards, and after the weekend you will receive 5 frags per shift.
